Educational Visits

Planned educational visits are an integral part of the curriculum at Crooksbarn Primary. Children in every year group have an opportunity to enjoy an educational visit, which is always an interesting and stimulating way for them to learn. Children for Year 4 – 6 are given the opportunity to enjoy outward bound activities with a planned visit to Robinwood, Alston in Cumbria where they can enjoy canoeing, rock climbing etc. Safety of the children is our priority with risk assessments being carried out for every educational visit. We may charge for educational visits. This means that in order for any planned visit to be viable, we rely on full parental support; otherwise, the visit may need to be cancelled. We are very careful to keep costs to an absolute minimum.

Sporting Achievements

All subjects are very important to us at Crooksbarn but we recognise that providing a wide range of opportunities gives more children a chance to shine and adds to the enjoyment of school. We have specific funding allocated for physical education and work closely with Stockton Sports Partnership. As a result children are given a wider range of opportunities and are able to take part in a variety of competitions and events. We have received School Games Platinum Mark, which we are very proud of. Over recent years children have had opportunities to take part in cluster activities and competitions in the following events:

  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Football
  • Tag Rugby
  • Athletics
  • Swimming
  • Cross Country
  • Cricket
  • Orienteering
  • Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
  • Squash
  • Rowing

All of our children give 100% in competitions and events and are always praised by event organisers for their fabulous behaviour and effort. We hope to continue to enrich the children’s learning through sporting activities and events and continue to win trophies and medals for our efforts.

After School Clubs

We offer a wide range of opportunities after school, with sports such as football, netball, cricket and athletics. We also offer a variety of Art based activities and cookery sessions. We are proud to offer extracurricular clubs to children from Reception to Y6. Details of these will be emailed out at the start of each term.
